Entertainment Journalist Kam Williams described Leary's book, Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome this way, "nothing short of brilliant in the way in which she approaches the subject, prodding you to place present-day behaviors in a proper historical context." Leary she has developed a culturally based education model for working with children and adults of color. She recently created the “African American Male Adolescent Respect Scale”, an assessment instrument designed to broaden our understanding of the challenges facing these youth in an effort to prevent their over-representation in the justice system, and to improve education achievement." The book has been praised by Bill Cosby, Randall Robinson, Al Sharpton, and many more.
