My Saturday was a busy mess. Kids, breakfast, dish washing, movie watching, popcorn you know quality family time before I left them to got get my groove on in SF or so I thought. Mango has to be one of the few clubs I don't have some hookup. It was demoralizing to have to stand in line but I was detemined to make even that experience payoff. I thought to myself survey the line, see who's hot, see who's interesting...you never know. I was doing that when all of a sudden I was sandwiched between two chain smokers. It was horrible. I tried to let on how much it was making me sick but they both gave me nasty looks instead. After surveying the line and noticing it was mostly white smokers in the line I began weighing my options. Wait in line, get smoked out, get a lung infection or go eat. When it started to rain on me I walked away without regret. I only saw two other black women and only three or four women of color period. Why pay $8. plus bart fare, plus drinks if I was gonna be surrounded by smoking whitegirls. I'd rather be at home cleaning the mess my kids were making...thats exactly what I did after enjoying a lovely Indian meal in the dark and in the quite restaurant I found on 16th between mission and valencia. Nothing makes up for a failed attempt at partying like some Tikka Masala...yummmy!
I caught these lovelies after a long night of dancing at Luka's Tap Room in Downtown Oakland. Every Thursday Night this upscale bar and restaurant is taken over by "Brothers and Sisters"(www.myspace.com/brothersandsisters) a weekly party created by Dj Daniela & Dedan. It has become an essential nutrient for B-Girls and B-Boys wanting to showcase their skills. For the rest of us its just the right place to be. I had just rapped up a long busy day and I really needed to keep my ass at home but it was my home girl Veronica Combs 40 Something birthday and it was her birthday wish to sweat it out with the girls. Oh how could I resist.... 
House music, great vibe and great people every week, I just had to go. It has been my Thursday night ritual since it started and now that I'm back on the scene I have to go and show the kids how to work it.
And sweat we did. I just love all the people she brought out. There were hugs and kisses going around. Even chocolate cake that I tried hard to resist but gave in because a sexy woman handed me o slice....whats a girl to do?
There was some new energy and some eye candy to look at this week. I hope they come back next week. Anyway the night had all kind of surprises, my H.O.B little sister was there servin up fancy footwork in femme face realness - translation she looked cute.

June is a special month for me. Why? well the woman who gave me life was born June 7th 1950, the man who gave me inspiration to be free and love god was born June 7th yes people the purple man himself Prince Rogers Nelson and then I was born 7days after them. Its a blessing and a curse to be a Gemini because people always think you are two face(ed) and overly flirty and a serious gossip which can be true for some but I believe us June Gems get a bad rap. We are sweet, caring, sexy and smart as whip, with more ideas that we can manifest in this lifetime. We do have a darkside but one only gets to see it if you lie, steal or try to hurt someone we love. Then we show no mercy other than that we are loyal friends to the very end.
I honor all the Gems in my life and in this world. We make it more interesting and fun. Without us who would the church people talk about, who would the boring admire and how would the lustful find release.

These are some of the sights of my sundays in April. Every third sunsday you have to go to Butta(2pm-8pm). Its like going to a good friends BBQ once a month. There is good music and women of color. If you like hanging outside with some dominoes you can do that
. If you like to smoke you can do that too. If you want a cute corner to snuggle in you might be able to do that. If you want to kick back with a cocktail and look at beautiful women, well you most definately can do that. You will see every body you know and want to know in this place and I have to mention that if you get there early enough the food is free. Thats right home cooked bbq, macncheese, and all the fixin's. Blueprint: get there, eat, h
ear poetry (3pm-4pm), drink, play cards or whatever, then get my dance on. Usually in that order. Wear comfortable shoes and a breathable shirt, it gets hot eventhough you are outside. And if it rains we all just go inside and finish what we've started. Its all good in the hood. I hope to see you there next time. Ask me to take your picutre and you will see you self here next month. The other sundays of the month you will find me at my other favorite spot...The Berkeley Thai Temple. Now I have to say that they start at 10am(-2pm) which seems to early to rise on a sunday unless 
you are church folk but if you do then I recomend that you go then. Cuz if you go anytime after that its just crazy and you might get frustrated and leave becuase the lines are too long and when you finally get to the front everything you wanted is gone. My favorites are: veggie green curry, fried bananas and the fried chicken. Everyone else is diving for the papaya salad and the pho' (soup). All I can say is that you haven't experienced the bay area until you've been to the temple. Prepare tp bring about $8 get and 3 friends. Exchange your cash to tokens first, then order you drinks which is right next to the token line. Then get in the papaya line. Have someone else order you a rice dish in another line, and ask the third friend thats standing around dazed and confused grab you a good table in the sun. Dress cute yet comfortable. You will be glad you did because you will see every beautiful person in the world there no matter what your preference is. Go then come back and share your temple experience with me. If you have a better way to navigate through the caos then please let us all know.

Thrusday Night I left my warm and cozy home to support friends in the club. I took my tired and trendy dressed self over to the Bambuddah Lounge for Sake 1's weekly party called Pacific Standard Time. I was there opening night and it was crankin' (very good) so hard. I danced until the very last song. That was the night Osunlade was there spinning and it was so beautiful. Anyway this night they were celebrating Sake's Birthday and that was cool but to come here and hear top forty hip hop was just not right. I'm usually at Luka's sweatin it up from a set of soulful house by dedan. I will be there next week, trust!
I ended up hugging the wall with my pretty pink cosmo and 
waiting for Jennifer Johns to perform. The usual suspects and local celebs were there and it was cool to see and be seen but I was bored. I was so happy when Jennifer suggested that we come with her to her next gig of the night at The Red Devil Lounge. All ten of us that where there got a special treat as she set the stage a blazin with no shoes on. She was being backed by The Crown City Rockers and they were absolutely amazing. The sound was pure and crisp and I had the pleasure of watching a masterpiece be built right before my very eyes. She had full control on stage and directed the band to create moody, groovy beats that made me wind slowly to myself as I watched. She told them to give her a sound from the year 2017. Then she said just give me the sax man, the drummers and the dj. Then just the organ and the guitar player. She is extra dope. Then she added honey to the 
pot by asking Ryan Burke and Valarie Troutt to join her on stage. They made ad libs and harmony look like childs work. It came so easily and effortlessly from them. They both had song streaming straight
